We can take marvellous journeys to paths that will profit and enrich our souls if we follow those paths.
We grow in thankfulness as we discover more fully the divine attributes of our sovereign Creator and Redeemer. We shudder to think what our lives would be if He was not all holy, all wise, all powerful, all seeing, always present, always loving, always providing, always guiding, always protecting and so much more. Who is a God like unto our God Who listens to us? Meditating on these essential, eternal truths will call forth from us worship and praise. If we truly hunger for God (Psalms 42:1-2) it will affect everything we say and do.
Another path beckons to my mind inviting me to beauty and mystery. I am compelled by the beauty and drawn by the mystery. There is always more to discover as my mind follows that fragrant path. The treasure chest of my memory overflows with exquisite wonders. God is the moonlight Painter, Who on a night dark with mystery, used moonlight to paint a golden path across a lake. He brings out an overwhelming array of stars and the awful grandeur of the aurora borealis to adorn the night sky. It felt like I could touch the stars in the prairie sky. Mile after mile of autumn leaves in the Blue Ridge Mountains and He lights candles in the trees.
He gives life to the first crocus which plants a good-bye kiss on the remaining traces of surrendering winter snow as it pushes through. He releases the fragrance in the lilacs of early spring. Cherry blossoms and apple blossoms are bewitchingly lovely just to look at but God seals in each a hidden promise of delectable provision.
Not beyond recall are the memories of times when I saw a double rainbow and joined Noah in awe. Just see what a glorious, awe-filled journey you can have if you spend some time on the Beauty and Mystery Road in sweet companionship with Jesus. You will be amazed and thrilled by where it will take you - - amazed and filled with admiration.
Dr. A.W. Tozer – mentioned the sacred wonders of the Triune Godhead. What a path of exploration for us – a path of enlightenment and explanation as we ask the Holy spirit to reveal what we are permitted to know.
Eternal – no beginning and no end. The eternal, transcendent Creator and Ruler of the universe – nailed to a Cross of anguish, agony and shame after being punched, spit on and beaten and scourged.
Much of our God is mystery but as we meditate on the mystery, His beauty fills our souls and His love invades our hearts. This path will prostrate us with trembling adoration.
Each path has mystery, beauty and blessings all along the way and they all have one thing in common – where the path leads. The goal and the destination of every path is GOD HIMSELF and the ongoing revelation of HIMSELF.
I can see genuine protection and benefit if we train our minds to use our free thinking time to become more deeply acquainted with these paths – paths without limit during our lifetime. If our minds are assaulted by unwanted thoughts such as self, pride, judging, unthankfulness, etc. – our minds can reject those ugly thoughts and immediately switch on to slowly meander along a path of beauty and mystery. What a wonderful aid to take every thought captive (2 Corinthians 10:5) to obey Christ.
Lord, teach us Your ways (Micha 4:2) so we may walk in Your PATHS.
So often we say the words – Omnipotence, Omniscience, Omnipresence – but do we run too quickly over them with only general thoughts? Do we ever dig into the beauty and mystery contained in them? I had an unusual thought at breakfast this morning. Of course I know that the wonders of creation are on my plate for every meal. Of course I know that God had to create cows so I can have milk on my cereal. As I was thanking Him, I was suddenly gripped with wonder. (Remember Omnipresence?) Because everything and everywhere is in God’s Presence – not just cows – but cow! That barn – that farmer or milking machine – that cow – all in God’s Presence. God knows the exact cow that gave the milk which is in my cereal bowl! My mind kept going and arrived at a tea plantation. God knows exactly which worker picked the leaves for the tea in my cup. Maybe these small details don’t seem all that important but I am filled with awe and my mind is drawn by the deepening awareness that the Lord knows and sees everything because He is always there when anything and everything happens anywhere and everywhere in a barn or on the remotest star!!! Then I asked God that many of those who reap His harvest would lift their eyes to heaven and recognize the Saviour.
HOW BIG IS GOD?
I need to spend more time on these paths of wonder, beauty, mystery and revelation of the Living God.
