God robbed heaven

Not only will our home address be Heaven, not only will we see Jesus, we will actually live with Him forever.

Do you remember that beautiful old hymn which can create such yearning in a sinking heart?

         Love divine all loves excelling,

         Joy of Heaven

God robbed Heaven of its supremest joy by His supremest sacrifice of supremest perfection for the supremest benefit for the supremest sin of condemned and guilty humans.  Into a world with a darkest background against the vilest iniquity came the stupendous, amazing grace of God.  God’s robbery gave Him the opportunity to freely lavish grace on horribly undeserving sinners – - AND He bore all the cost of His robbery.

Consider the eternal contrast – WORSHIP and REJOICE.

Hebrews 4:16  The awesome privilege of prayer - - entry into the  Throne Room.

Acts 1:8  The glorious privilege of telling others about Jesus.

Hebrews 11:10, Hebrews 11:16  We are now citizens of Heaven temporarily living on earth.

2 Peter 1:4  We are partakers of the Divine Nature.

1 Corinthians 3:16  We are sealed and indwelt by the Holy Spirit.

Revelation 21:27  Our names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Colossians 2:12, Colossians 3:1  We have risen with Christ to a brand new life, a life never lived before the resurrection of Jesus - - eternal life – - the life of God.

Romans 8:4  The righteous requirement of the law are fulfilled in us.

Philippians 2:5  We have the mind of Christ.

1 Peter 1:4  We have an inheritance that cannot rust, cannot fade, cannot be stolen or corrupted but only increase.

Isaiah 57:15 )  If we abide in Jesus, God the Father and God the Son will make Their home in our hearts – incarnate Deity!

Hebrews 13:5  The promise of His continual Presence with us.

Philippians 4:6-8  Our hearts and minds guarded by peace beyond understanding.  The Word to keep us from sin – and

Psalms 119:105  Light our path.

2 Timothy 3:16  The eternal Word of God made alive by the very breath of God.

I don’t think we can fully grasp the depths of God becoming Man, but God brought a memory, brought it insistently from years ago.  As my thoughts expanded, it seemed easier to get my mind around the mystery of Jesus.  Let me tell you about it.

I have a very dear and talented cousin whose late husband owned a plumbing business.  One particular year he had a booth at the Home Show and she made him a beautiful red jacket to wear at that venue.  Many of the vendors asked if and where they could get one like it.  His jacket attracted customers who then became interested in the products he had.  Of course, you realize that even before he had the jacket, he was still the same man.  His wife did not create him, she, as tailor, created something for him to wear on the person he had been long before the jacket.

When eternal Jesus came into this world, a human body was created in a virgin’s womb for Him to wear.  Jesus was Man, as He, as God, created Man to be.  Many who saw Him wanted to be like Him.

Just like the human Jesus, we began in this world wearing a human body but our humanity was soiled – sullied – damaged as His never was.  Jesus always was and always will be fully God, never less than God. So that we could see Him and relate to Him, He slipped into a suit like we wear, a human Body – a Body which was to be broken and spilled out for us. In His body Jesus revealed the eternal God and His grace and mercy (John 14:6, John 14:9) and the way to Him.  When we see Him we want to be like Him and to have what he offers.

Why did God rob Heaven for you and me?  When we see Him (1John 3:2) we shall be like Him in the full and total beauty of our complete, perfect humanity.  In the meantime He is changing us from glory to glory (2 Corinthians 3:18) rebuilding His defaced but not erased Image to make us increasingly like Jesus while we are still on Planet Earth.  As Jesus through His perfect humanity revealed the Father, so we in our redeemed humanity are to reveal Jesus.  Why?  So that He can work in us and then through us to bring many sons to glory (2 Corinthians 4:6).

God robbed Heaven to make us rich beyond all riches with eternal treasures.  This brief list shows only a little of all that the Lord has prepared (1 Corinthians 3:9) for those who love Him.  And just think!!!  Not only will our home address be Heaven, not only will we see Jesus, we will actually live with Him forever.  Hold on - - there is more!  We will be reunited with our precious loved ones and we will never say “good-bye” again.

Oh, to grace how great a debtor

                           Daily I’m constrained to be.

My cup runneth over (Psalms 23:5)
