Manoeuver

For the past several weeks, a sentence from one of Major Ian Thomas's books, seems to be always at the back of my mind and frequently pops up in my thoughts.  Based on Psalm 37:5-7, he says, "If you are solidly convinced that God is the arbiter of your affairs, you will never be anxious.
NEVER be anxious?    NEVER be anxious!            NEVER BE ANXIOUS ! ! !I take time to consider all the big things that are designed to make us uneasy and apprehensive; then I ponder the trifles which seem to worry us so easily; then I read the verses again.  "Commit your way to the Lord, repose each care of your load on Him, lean on Him and be confident in Him.  Rest in the Lord and patiently stay yourself upon Him."
I drink in the words which speak of rest, relaxation and security, and I try to dig out the reasons for anxiety.  Could it be that I have not truly committed my way to Him and gladly allowed Him to call the shots?  Could it be that I think I can do a better job of handling it with my striving and worrying than He can?  Could it simply be that               I don't believe Him?
Jesus was never shocked by sin but He was amazed by unbelief (Mark 6:6).
We need to learn to give God room to manoeuver, to learn to be still and know Him as God and let Him be God in our experience.  True commitment to the Lord Jesus gives  Him right of way and releases His Life through us in rivers of living water.
Then, we do not have the right to panic.
