Without Him I would fall.
The light of morning gradually dispels the darkness of the night. The morning light of our dawning new day, our new Life in Christ, conquers the darkness of sin and dethrones the dominion of sin. If we obey the Lord (Isaiah 58:8) our light will break forth as the morning so that we will be (Matthew 5:14) the light in our world. GOD IS LIGHT (1 John 1:5) and in Him there is no darkness at all. He is (John 1:4-5) totally LIGHT and as we abide, live, think, walk in the Light, we will find that (Psalms 112:4) the light rises in darkness (daybreak!) and the Lord will ordain opportunities for us to share God’s liberating light with people who are trapped, the victims in Satan’s darkness.
(Oswald Chambers) “Drudgery is the touchstone of character. The secret of discipleship is devotion to Jesus”. Walking in the light is not always (Isaiah 40:31) mounting up with eagle wings and not always running without getting tired. More often it is walking without giving up, faithfully walking day after ordinary day. Each and every one of my ordinary days is stacked with holy privileges and (2 Peter 1:3-4) precious promises. I live in the ordinary stuff of life and there I am a suit of clothes for Jesus. I want to be closer to Him in heart and life than my own clothes are to me. The Lord engineers every detail and circumstance of my life, establishes His purpose and, by the enabling power of the indwelling Holy Spirit, equips me to fulfill His purpose in every ordinary or extraordinary day. But we need always to stay close to the one and only Good Shepherd. We have an enemy who devises many deceitful traps and attractive snares and strategies to tempt us to pride and to go our own way.
Nobody but God knows everything about anyone. If I see wrong in others, I need to remember that God sees the possibility of that same wrong in me. My thoughts are done deeds (Proverbs 23:7) in God’s sight and in the (1 John 2:15-17) lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye and the pride of life, all harmful, temporary and will pass away. BUT – those who do the will of God will remain and live forever. Pride is the perversion of true holy worship because it is the idolatry of self-worship. It began for the first time in heaven when (Ezekiel 28:17) Lucifer’s pride transformed him into Satan. Our pride is the root of every sin because our pride spits in the face of God and puts self on the throne and declares that we can make better choices for ourselves. Pride is the fuel for judging others because we would not judge if we had not deceived ourselves into thinking that we are superior to others in doing right. Thinking about the words I’m writing in this meditation makes me (1 Corinthians 10:12) tremble.
God’s purpose is not achieved only by His will or His way. His will and His way must be partnered with His exact and perfect timing. In our approach to obedience, if we obey God’s will in the wrong way or at the wrong time, it is just as much disobedience as if we had ignored God’s will altogether. Partial obedience can never masquerade as obedience - - - it is always complete and total disobedience. If we fully trust and obey the Lord as (Numbers 14:24) Caleb did, we will constantly be enriched by the deeper things of God which are (Deuteronomy 29:29) revealed for us to possess. The Lord accepts me just as I am but He loves me too much to leave me just as I am. We know that in this present world there is darkness all around the light but there is no darkness in the light. (Dr. Youseff) “The only cure for Darkness is Light”. Do you want more light? You can find it (Psalms 119:105) in your Bible. The eternal Word of the Living God is alive with the very breath of God. God’s Word contains (Isaiah 61:11) self-fulfilling power and will (Mark 13:31) never pass away. The secret of poise, to remain calm when there is panic all around you, is to (John 15:4-5) abide in Jesus. The fragrance of His sweetness, the beauty of His love and the compassion of His heart will be reproduced in us and flow out through us in love for our neighbours, as we (1 John 1:7) live in the Light with God.
Human fathers are given gifts on the third Sunday in June to celebrate Father’s Day. But every day with its blessings and potential is my heavenly Father’s gift to me. If you give a gift to someone, what the recipient does with that gift is entirely up to them. When we give ourselves (Romans 12:1-2) to God we must adjust our thoughts into the realization that we are (1 Corinthians 6:19) not our own. Whatever God does in our lives or tells us to do, is entirely up to Him. We have no right and no reason to complain because we do not have ownership. He continues to fulfill His purpose in us and we will experience growing precious intimacy with God. Self-consideration can be a landmine. What they did (Acts 13:28-30) and what God did. Instead of just merely escaping death, Jesus conquered death and now He makes His glorious victorious eternal Resurrection Life available to all who will receive Him as Saviour and Lord. There is more grace in God’s heart than there is sin in anyone’s life. All sin can be forgiven but the consequences (Deuteronomy 4:21, Deuteronomy 34:4) are not always removed.
A line from an old hymn, “Dark is His path on the wings of the storm”.
Sometimes God will allow a storm, maybe a fierce storm in our lives and we have no understanding concerning it. We must remember that it is HIS PATH, we need to trust and obey Him, thank Him for this good, holy beneficial purpose. We should not allow the storm to distract or deviate us but use it to draw us closer to God. The storm will pass and if we have been faithful, the Lord will fill our lives with a rainbow of blessings
Prayer is God’s gift to us but prayer is not for the purpose of my telling God anything. He already knows everything I will say before I do. Prayer is to make me a worshiping intercessor and to deepen my relationship, my intimacy and my oneness with God so that He shares His heart with me and the actual words of my prayers are born in the heart of God, to be so one with Him Who is enthroned in Sovereignty on the Throne of Grace. As by faith, I kneel to pray at the Throne of Grace, my prayers give verbal expression to the will of God.
A few days ago, this little song bubbled up in my heart so I sing it often to Jesus. Will you join me?
Supremely precious is Jesus to me,
Exceedingly precious is He,
He is my All - - without Him I would fall,
He is exceedingly precious to me.
Worthy art Thou, oh Lord, and holy is Thy Name
