God is taking me deeper into His sovereign control and loving involvement in every detail of my life. When things don’t go the way I expected or planned, I don’t get upset. My first thought is that God has a better plan. I do not react to the circumstances but respond to God’s better plan.
The comfort for Israel (Isaiah 40:1-5) was the promise that Messiah was coming and be revealed to them. The comfort of the Church (1 Thessalonians 4:18) is the promise that Jesus, our beloved and longed for Bridegroom will soon come and rapture the Church out of this world and take us Home to our Father’s house. Anticipation, longing and joy and we will be Home at last and Home forever.
Take time to meditate on this wonderful verse – Who is like You (Exodus 15:11) O Lord? You are glorious in holiness and awesome in splendour, doing wonders. God does wonders in my life every day by enabling me to do what I am too weak to do and too blind to see. I can’t walk on water (Matthew 14:29) if I don’t get out of my boat of self-protection and security. Miracles don’t happen in the boat, only in the water.
To follow Jesus is to obey His leading, teaching, example in doing and saying only the things that please our beloved heavenly Father (John 8:29) and turn not aside (Proverbs 4:27) to the right or the left but refrain from evil.
Heart to heart prayer, oneness with God is to discern the intents of His heart. His desires and His will for other lives. Our prayers can be the verbal expression of the very heart of God. When the Holy Spirit makes my prayers so one with God then I can pray the will of God into present reality
Jesus came into the world (John 1:9-10) to be Himself the Light which enlightens every person born into this world. Every individual can perceive, believe and receive or reject this only True Light. Light our path where Jesus is our Saviour but if we refuse the light, we will live and walk in Satan’s darkness.
Do we recognize our enemies? Good is the enemy of Best. Fear is the enemy of Faith, Greed is the enemy of Generosity, Grumbling is the enemy of Gratitude, Selfishness is self-worship and the enemy of True worship of God. The Flesh is the enemy of the Holy Spirit. If we collaborate with any of these enemies we join Satan’s team in rebellion against God – but – God’s purpose for us to be in this world is to be holy as God is holy and to refrain from the evil of everything unholy, that which is not like God. Friendship with the world (James 4:4) is the enemy of God. The ugliest and most dangerous enemy is Pride, because smooth, oily deceptive Pride is the enemy of Reality. You cannot be Proud and at the same time Real. This is the Reality of True Christian desire. (Philippians 3:10) that I may know HIM in the power of His Resurrection in the fellowship of His suffering and be made conformable to His death. Death in me to everything that was not in Jesus.
