The Holy Spirit's search

The workshop of munitions for the Christian life, in a holy relationship with God, is the hidden, personal worshipping life of the saint.

That evening I was sitting on my prayer chair in my prayer corner when unexpectedly this sentence appeared in my mind while I was talking to the Lord.  “The Holy Spirit searches the deep things of God”.  At first, I wondered why He would search when He already knows everything.  I couldn’t remember the reference so I checked it next morning (1 Corinthians 2:10) but before that, around 4:30 in the morning, the Lord spoke to me and said “The Holy Spirit searches according to your need and desire for ever-growing closeness with the Lord.”  (Yes, my eyes leaked.)  Then I thought of (Matthew 5:8) the pure in heart shall see God.  A pure heart does not mean sinless perfection but an undiluted heart, unmixed with fleshly desires but having one desire for deepening intimacy with God.  On that basis my heart is pure and ‘un-mired’, always seeking more of Jesus, He is all I want.  Dr.A.W.Tozer – “Obedience to the Word of Christ will bring an inward revelation (John 14:21-23) of the Godhead.  The soul has eyes to see and ears to hear with an inward revelation of the Godhead and will give acute perception to see God even as He has promised to the pure in heart.  More and more our faculties grow sharper and more sure.”

Oswald Chambers – “When you really see Jesus, I defy you to doubt Him”.  What does the searching of the Holy Spirit mean to me personally?  The Amplified Bible reads (1 Corinthians 2:9-10) “To us God has unveiled and revealed them to us by and through His spirit, for the Holy Spirit searches diligently exploring and examining everything, even sounding the profound and bottomless things of God, the divine counsels and things hidden and beyond man’s scrutiny.”  WOW!  So much for unpacking but nothing comes by intellect, only by revelation.  The Holy Spirit’s search is not for Himself but for us.  The words – things hidden – suggest that the Holy Spirit can take me deeper into His unfolding of the priceless treasures of Scripture.  This is more than a suggestion because I continue to prove it and I know there is always more to learn because the things of God are bottomless.  We will not grasp the divine counsels if we do not spend time with the Holy Spirit and the eternal Word of God.  Every time we do, we strike gold!  The Holy Spirit selects the particular truths which are suited to our very personal desire and longing at just the right time.  The Holy Spirit is the spirit of Life (Romans 8:2) which is in Christ Jesus and His law is freedom.  That is why He can reproduce in you and me the very Life, abundant Life of Jesus.

What do you and I truly know about genuine worship?  In our church services the hymn singing is often called the worship service.  You know that we can sing familiar hymns, never miss a word but never think of those words because our minds are on something else even while we sing.  I can sing “saved a wretch like me” without giving a thought to what a sinful wretch I am apart from Jesus Christ and what it cost God to save me.  We can attend church, read our Bibles, pray, tithe and etc. and all of it be devoid of worship.  Dr. C. Stanley said that “worship is not a thing but an inner attitude which we cannot work up but only God can produce in us.”  I think that true worship is often when we don’t do the talking. Just in awed silence recognize the terrifying holiness, limitless power, wisdom which encircles the entire universe, matchless glory and underserved unending love.  Times of such revelation can bring us tears which we can’t explain.  Worship demands purity, humility, obedience which is total abandon to God’s will and gratitude.  No unconfessed sin, tinge of selfishness, no hint of pride, no willful disobedience, no compromise, no criticism and no grumbling can exist with worship.  Either they must die or worship will.  Oswald Chambers “Worship is giving God the best that He has given you.  Whenever you get a blessing from God give it back to Him as a love gift.  Worship and intercession must go together, one is impossible without the other.  The workshop of munitions for the Christian life, in a holy relationship with God, is the hidden, personal worshipping life of the saint.”

I pray that by the revelation of the Holy Spirit I will experience many times of such awe-filled recognition of God that I will be overwhelmed and speechless with pure worship and that He will make me an intercessor in tune with the heart of God.

On the morning after Christmas, just as I was in the act of getting out of bed, the Lord gave me a message which I’d like to share with you.

Another day, another Christmas has come and gone, slipping silently into ETERNITY and is lost forever to TIME.  No possibility of recall.  What will this present fleeting day bring and how will we respond?  Our Heavenly Father knows our frame (Psalms 103:14) and remembers and imprints on His heart that we are dust.  He loves us with undeserved, unchanging, unending, matchless love.  The eternal God is our Refuge and dwelling place and (Deuteronomy 33:27) underneath us are His everlasting arms.
