Living with uncertainty ..... many of us do. We have lived with uncertainty for several months

and frightening possibilities loom in our run-away imaginations.

After reading 2 Thessailonians 3:16, Amplified ... (the Lord of peace Himself grant you His peace, the peace of His kingdom, at all times and in all ways, under all circumstances and conditions, whatever comes) ... I said to the Lord, "If you don't give us peace, truly we'll never have it." Anyone who thinks he has peace and he didn't get from God, is deceived.

Finally the day came, the day of expected answers. But, while some fears were ruled out, the answer was not yet discovered --- and so, the uncertainty continues.

Strangely, so it seemed to me, while I was reading Psalm 40, God reminded me of a truth which always moves me deeply. When Abraham offered Isaac, it was not to prove anything to the Omniscient God. God already knew what Abraham would do but Abraham didn't really know his own heart. If anything could become an idol in Abraham's life, it was Isaac; and God in mercy put His finger on it. That day Abraham became the friend of God.

We have told God that He comes first with us, that nothing is as important to us as He is. We have said many such things and meant them just as much and as sincerely as Peter did when he declared that he would die with Jesus rather than desert Him.

But the heart is deceitful and who can know it?

So, God has granted us a time of uncertainty, not to prove anything to Him but to us, by testing our hearts for possible idols.

Has He trusted us with a privilege that will allow us, by His enabling, to be called His friends?

How thankful I am that in a turbulent, disaster-ridden world, where the only certainty is uncertainty, we can be ABSOLUTELY SURE of our UNCHANGING GOD.

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,

How great Thou art!

With love and prayers,
