Jesus was available to God without measure.
Are God’s promises all the same kind? (Dr. Stanley) points out that “God gave two types of promises, conditional and unconditional”. To Abraham (Genesis 12:1-3, Galatians 3:8) the Lord gave an unconditional promise which would be fulfilled no matter what, and in that promise the entire population of the world would be blessed by one of Abraham’s descendants. We are experiencing that blessing at this present time. Jesus gave us a conditional promise. You can ask whatever you will and it shall be done for you (John 15:7) IF you abide in Me and My Words abide in you, continue to live in your heart. As you read the promises be careful to check for any conditions. Conditional promises cannot become ours unless and until we meet the conditions. When fear knocks at the door and faith answers there is nobody there.
Do you recognize Melchizedek (Genesis 14:18-20, Hebrews 7:10) Who came to bless Abraham? Can you identify the Man with the drawn sword in His hand (Joshua 5:13-15) Who confronted Joshua? He is the Son of God, in pre-Incarnate Christophanies, the same One Who gave us (2 Peter 1:4) great and precious promises which contain everything we need for life and godliness.
If there is sin in your life (Isaiah 59:12) it will separate you from God and His promises. Deal with the sin immediately, get right with God and the promises are yours. Worry is a definite hindrance to the realization of God’s promises in your life.
(Oswald Chambers) “Worry is infidelity because it doesn’t believe God and trust Him to take care of the details of our lives.” (Christian infidels - - believing that God can’t be trusted !?) What kind of idiot trusts worry? Jesus said (Matthew 13:22) that the cares of life choke the Word of God if we choose to worry about them. But if we (1 Peter 5:7) cast all our care on Him we will have nothing to worry about. We can’t trust the Lord and worry at the same time. Believing faith is essential. Without faith (Hebrews 11:6) it is impossible to please God. WHY?
Because if we have doubts it indicates that we think God is not trustworthy! ! ! If you lack faith (Romans 10:17) immerse yourself in God’s Word and your faith will grow mountain-high. Our faith is rooted in God’s unchanging character and our doubts are rooted in our wicked sin of unbelief. You cannot claim God’s promises while you slander and malign Him by refusing to believe Him. Trust in the Lord (Proverbs 3:5-6) with ALL your heart and mind. God’s Word is absolutely certain, it is more certain than my next breath. I would be a fool not to trust the Living Word of the eternal God (Hebrews 13:7-8, 2 Timothy 1:5) and His unchanging wisdom, power and goodness. Who spared not His only Son but gave Him up for us. The knowledge that the Lord engineers every detail of my life gives me the luxury of having no questions and no complaints. Our relationship with God is supremely important. Because I confidently know WHO, I have no need to know WHY. John had known Jesus intimately but when he saw Him (Revelation 1:17) in His glorious majesty, he fell at His feet as dead, Until Jesus laid His right hand upon him, John couldn’t even get up.
(Oswald Chambers “ In His ascended glory, Jesus comes to an insignificant disciple and says – Fear not. God can do nothing for me until I get to the end of the possible.” Because in my flesh (Romans 7:18-19) there is nothing good, I cannot obey the Lord. But I know that God is working in me because I have a yearning desire to obey Him. I must accept everything from my Father’s hand, whether difficult, painful or pleasant, with implicit faith and realize that these things are the building blocks which God is using to continue (Philippians 1:6) the good work He began in me until I am (Romans 8:29) completely conformed to the image of His beloved Son. John didn’t feel the love-filled powerful touch of Jesus until after he had been submerged in boiling hot oil and survived to be exiled and imprisoned on Patmos. The existence of the Book of Revelation tells us why God rescued John from martyrdom. When the will is surrendered to God (Genesis 13:9) all liberty of choice is gone. (Oswald Chambers) “Our rights no longer are the standard for our lives. We waive our rights and let God do the choosing for us.”
I heard (Dr. C. Stanley) say that “nobody has the GIFT of healing. Only God alone is the Healer. He gives to some the gift of faith and through their prayers of believing faith, (James 5:16) God gives healing as a gift to some sick people.” It is obvious that believing faith is for us, essential if we want to be part of God’s program.
During His ministry on earth God did not give (John 3:34) the Holy Spirit to Jesus by measure but as a boundless Gift without measure because Jesus was available to God without measure. The more we abandon ourselves to Jesus (John 14:21) the more He will reveal Himself to us. I have said many times that the alarm clocks of God’s grace are sounding all over the world with the offer of mercy and the warning of coming judgment. But Elihu said it long before I did (Job 37:5, 13) God does great things which we cannot comprehend whether for correction or for mercy. Are we willing and ready and prepared at every opportunity to proclaim and confirm the message of the warning bells, the message of God’s amazing grace? If not, why are we here?
