Salvation is free to all but salvation is not cheap. The stupendous price for it was the horrendous price of the Life of Jesus, (Revelation 1:5) the Son of God. The Blood of Jesus was the only sinless Blood that ever existed since the Fall of Adam. That priceless Blood was poured out on the Cross of Calvary. If Jesus had not shed His precious Blood for us (Hebrews 9:12, Hebrews 10:19) we could never have had our sin forgiven. Who are we -- the forgiven sinners?
Jesus used the example (Matthew 13:44-46) of a dealer in pearls. The dealer had discovered a field in which was buried one pearl, a pearl of great price. So, he sold everything he had and purchased that field. God robbed heaven’s best when He sent Jesus into this world to discover the pearl of great price. What is it? That one pearl is (Ephesians 5:23) the Church of Jesus Christ, of which He is the Head and which He purchased with His own Blood. The Church is His Body and we who are Christians are members of His Body and therefore, we are part of the Pearl of great price. We are (Ephesians 2:10) God’s workmanship, the work of His hands. Because each one of us is the work of God’s hands, each one of us is a masterpiece. As Ethel Waters said years ago, “God don’t make no junk”.
How can we be fully completed, mature and thankful enough for all we are and have in Christ Jesus through His shed Blood? Does our life constantly proclaim all that Jesus has done for us, in us and wants to do through us?
As we L.T.O. we will have P.P.E.
As we love the Lord supremely, Trust Him implicitly and Obey Him instantly, without question - - we will have God’s Protection, Provision and Enabling.
Recently I saw another aspect of God’s wisdom in His Creation which you may find interesting. Why didn’t God make all varieties of the food He created grow in every country of the world? Because God knew, long in advance, that the sale of produce from one country to others would generate income and create opportunities for employment. So, God created labour and trade and insight for business in the population of every country God preplanned for the total good of mankind.
All to Jesus I surrender,
All I am and have to Him
Knowing that I’m His trusted steward I give all to Him
I want to obey Him as long as I live.
That little song came to my thoughts early one morning and I sing it often to Jesus. There is nothing, absolutely nothing that can hinder, interfere with or decrease the continual total sovereign control of our God, our wonderful all-glorious God. So, we have soul-rest and heart-peace from God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. We who are part of the Pearl of Great Price.
Beauty and accomplishment are born out of suffering. The heart of a Pearl is a Wound and that makes Calvary increasingly real to me. The Cross is the Gateway between Time and Eternity. The Cross stands over the wrecks of Time and the Cross is Eternity’s CROWN.
